As we head to the polls tomorrow, I hope we do so knowing politics should give us something to believe in. I hope we keep in mind that by making corporations pay their fair share we can fund the things that benefit all of us, no matter our bank balance or postcode.

Communities deserve better than representatives that are more in the pocket of their corporate donors than they are interested in the issues affecting all of us. That’s why having Greens in the Senate who can’t be bought and won’t sell you out is so important.

Covering the rest of our policy platform would involve several hundred tweets, but it’s well worth a read in its fully-costed and thoroughly detailed glory before you vote:

Again and again, our environment is exploited for profit instead of cherished and protected. From the waters of the Murray-Darling in Western NSW to endangered Koalas in the North we will tackle the extinction crises that has been ignored for too long

More than just building new homes, we’ll help fix the market but ending the unfair tax breaks like negative gearing and the capital gains tax discount that make it easier for investors to buy their 7th home than a family to buy their 1st

Every single person deserves the dignity of a safety net, but governments have destroyed social housing. With homelessness rising, our plan for a home for all will fund crisis housing & build 500000 desperately needed new, sustainable social homes

Newstart hasn’t had a raise for more than two decades. The won’t mess around with a ‘review’ like Labor, we’ll immediately pass a $75 increase because no one should be forced into poverty when life’s tripped them up.

I’m so proud the Greens are committed to lifelong – By ending tax breaks to polluters we can also boost uni funding by 10%, raise the HELP repayment threshold, invest $100m in research and lift Youth Allowance by $75 a week. Which brings me to Newstart...

During the last few months I’ve had countless conversations with students who are working multiple jobs to make ends meet while they go to TAFE and uni to rack up an enormous HELP debt before facing a difficult job market 👨🏽‍🎓😭

As well as addressing the climate emergency, we need to tackle the scourge of inequality. That means closing offshore detention, creating a safe pathway for people who seek our help and working with First Nations Peoples to establish a path for sovereignty and treaties.

Getting strong action on climate change will be difficult so long as fossil fuel companies are able to make massive donations to parties. Labor & the Liberals have taken millions. The don't take a cent and we’ll ban those donations so they can’t corrupt our democracy

Now more than ever, we need urgent action on climate change. Neither major party has a plan that will stop global warming of more than 1.5 ºC. The Greens do. It makes us 100% renewable by 2030, creates 180000 jobs and is fully costed. Have a read:
