    She was born here. Her parents are british nationals Her mother has dual citizenship She has no other citizenship. She is English.

    100% correct. If she wasn't born here, she has a problem. But was she born here? If so, she's British. No?

    Asad Haider in his book on identity makes this assumption on his remarks on Occupy. It’s not good

    many folks on the left think settler colonialism is an event of the past rather than a structure & conundrum we must actively resist, subvert, and overthrow through decolonization (re: returning all lands to Native peoples)

    1. This is a response to the opinion piece about me in yesterday and how I would like it to remedied. Racial targeting isn’t okay and the op-Ed shouldn’t be a precedent. Diversity isn’t about white men or taking away their opportunities. It’s about a richer future.

    Yes. Also necessary is to get non Indigenous non Black and non POC scholars working with/ in/ on Indigenous and race studies to account for our own practices and the impacts of reiterating whiteness in these spaces

    A disgusting thing to see the Conservative Party - which once prided itself on “law & order” - deprive a British woman and a baby of citizenship rather than, if necessary, prosecute her here. If citizenship can be selectively rescinded, law means nothing. Justice means nothing.

    Something could support for the Aus context?

    Wouldn’t it be incredible to produce a volume on reflections from Indigenous folks about their experiences of Anthro/pologists from these so-called ‘top programs’. An ethnography and history of the ‘top’ ethnographers, from the perspective of the communities they study/speak for.

    This is an absolutely crucial part of the case - she is being made stateless. Anyone with any non-UK ancestry with more flexible citizenship laws should take note... was right. This affects anyone who can be claimed as not British.

    Given she told BBC that she did not have a Bangladeshi passport (confirmed by her lawyer), it appears she is a dual national *without knowing* Seems based on fact anyone with a Bangladeshi parent (plus certain conditions) is a citizen, which she might not have been aware of

    I hope this context makes it clearer. I’m doing a post doc on the post 9/11 generation and part of it examines their political engagement/activism and barriers/fears about being political. (Clearly all loaded terms which I unpack in my research)

    I'm sure Javid is just assuming that unlike Britain Bangladesh not only has birthright citizenship but that like Britain a racialized partiality also applies for the next generation & ex-colonies are too small to object anyway: who says he hasnt learned any lessons from Windrush?

    (This is not what the family say. But a fight that Javid will be happy to have.)

    The problem with writing a chapter on ‘not racism’ is that I could be including new examples every day. The damn thing is already too long!

    You don't say racist stuff, if you aren't racist, it really is that simple. I'm tired sometimes & I've been recovering from a TBI, neither thing has ever made me spout racist shite, because i don't think like that. (even with a brain injury), whereas, she, obviously does.

    Why have the UK Govt not revoked Jihadi Jack Letts’s Citizenship, a British Canadian dual national. He is detained in Syria and his parents are due on trial here. One rule for the boy from Oxford and another for the girl from Bethnal Green? Something not right.
