    just arrived in for a tour of thriving chinese renewable energy companies. somewhat ironic to be in an electric taxi reading that will be the minister for climate change. ...a man who once told me to accept we were heading for a 500PPM CO₂ world.

    Honoured to be appointed Minister for Energy and Emissions Reduction in the Morrison Government. I look forward to getting on with the job of lowering power prices for Australian families and businesses, and ensuring we stay on track to meet our 2030 emissions reduction target

    GB has now gone over 8 days without burning coal to generate our electricity. Another record & longest ever! Love this graphic from demonstrating how quickly coal has been coming off the grid. All the green lines are 0% coal days - the first was just two years ago.

    I do get feeling that if the ALP went to the election promising a $10B capex spend in QLD to build a huge solar plant promising 2000+ jobs then look to privatise within 10 years it it may have moved the needle than a 'Stop Adani' mantra. Thoughts:

    Europe has started to build world’s largest power plant: 180 GW of offshore wind capacity, dwarfing China’s Three Gorges Dam (22.5 GW)! 13 GW is already in operation and ~50 GW will be completed by 2030.

    🤓 energy geek fact: for system reliability *capacity* is more important than *energy*. eg. south australia uses diesel gens for capacity, not energy. in FY2018 diesel was: • 24% of required capacity (734/3000MW max demand) • 0.1% of energy demand (0.01/14.7TWh)

    I have mesothelioma, nearing end-of-life but what bothers me more is leaving to my sons, a world run by imbeciles. is a joke but, morrison, joyce, canavan, pretty much entire LNP are far worse! Ignorant, godless cretins hell-bent on destroying the only home we know.

    Since yesterday three more people harmed themselves, one in Port Moresby and two on Manus. All three are transferred to the hospital now. The number of suicide attempts and self harm has reached to 14 since the election.

    i’d love to hear apply his logic to these statistics to “prove” that cars don’t exist.

    The typical European car is parked 92% of the time. It spends 1/3rd of its driving time looking for parking. Its 5 seats only move 1.5 people. 86% of its fuel never reaches the wheels, & most of the energy that does, moves the car, not people. HT
