Bradley T. Brick, Ph.D.

Bradley T. Brick joined JRSA as a Research Associate in July 2018. He received his Ph.D. in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Missouri – St. Louis in 2009 and M.A. in Sociology from Georgia State University in 2004. Prior to joining JRSA, Brad worked for the Marine Corps Sexual Assault Prevention and Response branch as a Data Analyst where he examined patterns in sexual assault offending and victimization in the Marine Corps. His past research has focused on racial disparities in school punishment, police clearance of sexual assault and other violent crime, and civilian attitudes toward the police.

Erin Farley, Ph.D.

Erin J. Farley joined the JRSA staff in May 2015 as a Research Associate working on the Pre-Trial Justice Institute Project. She earned her B.S. in Psychology from Virginia Tech and her Ph.D. in Criminology from the University of Delaware. Prior to working at JRSA Dr. Farley was a Senior Research Associate at the Center for Court Innovation in NYC where she worked on a number of projects including an evaluation of Intelligence Driven Prosecution in the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, the Manhattan Mental Health Court, and a randomized trial of an evidence-based assessment protocol in New York City drug courts. She has co-authored reports on indigent defense reforms in Brooklyn, as well as the Adolescent Diversion Program, Judicial Diversion, Improving Courtroom Communication, and the Bronx Family Treatment Court.

Audrey Fleming, B.S.

Audrey joined the JRSA team in October, 2016, and has over 15 years of experience in nonprofit associations. She is responsible for managing all aspects of the financial and administrative operations of the association and provides additional support to the Director of Finance. Audrey holds a Bachelor of Science degree with an accounting concentration from Strayer University.

Susan Howley, J.D.
Project Manager

Susan S. Howley joined the JRSA staff in October 2017 as Project Manager for the Vision 21 Resource Center on Victim Research and Evaluation. She earned her B.A. in International Affairs from Texas Christian University and her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. Prior to coming to JRSA, Susan was Director of Public Policy for the National Center for Victims of Crime (NCVC). She has more than twenty-six years’ experience with crime victims issues, including analyzing federal and state legislation regarding the rights and interests of crime victims, exploring the capacity of the crime victim services field and identifying needed areas of improvement, exploring the integration of research and practice in victim services and developing recommendations to foster that integration.

Kris Lugo, Ph.D.

Kristina Lugo earned her Ph.D. in Justice, Law and Criminology at American University in 2016 and her MPA from Georgia State University in 2011. She joined JRSA in January 2017 as a Research Associate working on a study of prosecutors' use of state human trafficking statutes and a research design to estimate the costs of crime victimization. Prior to JRSA, Dr. Lugo was a Senior Criminal Justice Research Associate at CSR, Incorporated, where she managed the Performance Measurement Tool for the Office for Victims of Crime. She has worked on diverse research projects, including the President's Task Force on 21st Century Policing, organized crime challenges in the Dutch Caribbean, and numerous projects related to human trafficking and violent extremism as a fellow with the National Institute of Justice (NIJ).

Bailey Maryfield, M.S.

Bailey Maryfield joined the JRSA staff in October 2016 as a Research Analyst working on the National Institute of Justice and Bureau of Justice Statistics Methamphetamine Project. She holds a B.S. in Criminal Justice and a M.S. in Criminal Justice and Public Safety from Indiana University-Purdue University of Indianapolis. Prior to working at JRSA, Bailey was a Research Associate with the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute, the Statistical Analysis Center for Indiana. She worked on several projects there, including Indiana’s Strategic Plan for the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program.

Casey Paul, Ph.D.
Adult and Online Learning Specialist

Casey joined JRSA in February 2019 as the Adult and Online Learning Specialist. She received her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from North Carolina State University and her MA in secondary education from the University of Alabama. She has over 7 years of experience in the education sector. Prior to coming to JRSA, she worked as an instructional designer and as an adjunct online university professor. She has also worked as a public high school teacher. Casey’s focus at JRSA is producing high quality, effective technical and training assistance for JRSA members and partners.

Roger K. Przybylski, M.S.

Roger K. Przybylski is a consultant and founder of RKC Group, a company that provides applied research, program evaluation and training and technical assistance services to criminal and juvenile justice organizations across the country. Prior to forming RKC Group in 1997, Mr. Przybylski served as associate director for the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority, where he directed the agency's research division and the Illinois SAC. He also has served as coordinator of research for the Chicago Police Department, the nation's second largest local law enforcement agency. Mr. Przybylski is a past president of JRSA and former chair of the American Evaluation Association's crime and justice interest group. He has been an adjunct faculty member at Loyola University and the University of Illinois-Chicago, and he currently serves as an instructor for the Michigan State University Smart Suite Researcher Practitioner Fellows Academy.

Jeffrey Sedgwick, Ph.D.

Jeffrey Sedgwick joined JRSA as Executive Director in January 2015, having previously served as Director of the U.S. Department of Justice's Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) and Assistant Attorney General for the Office of Justice Programs (OJP). Dr. Sedgwick is responsible for the overall management of JRSA, including administrative functions, program development and implementation, and liaison to other national criminal justice organizations. He provides staff support to JRSA's Executive Committee as well as to the Association’s members.

Susannah Naomi Tapp, Ph.D.

Susannah Naomi Tapp joined the JRSA as a Research Analyst in February 2019. She got her MS in criminal justice and her Ph.D. in criminal justice and criminology at Georgia State University. Her past research has looked at victimization of the elderly, perceptions of violence, and theories of intimate partner violence

Nichole (Nikki) Thomas
Administrative Coordinator

Nicole Thomas joined the JRSA staff in September 2017 as an Administrative Coordinator. She is currently enrolled at the University of the District of Columbia, pursuing an AA Degree in Business Management. She has over 25 years in the Administrative field. Prior to joining the JRSA staff; she worked at the National Criminal Justice Association (NCJA) as a Staff Associate. She is a member of the Martha’s Table Child Development Center Healthy Start Program.

Jason Trask, M.S.

Jason Trask joined Justice Research and Statistics Association in October 2000. In that time he has worked on a variety of data collection and program evaluation projects, including the Weed and Seed Data Center Project and the Bureau of Justice Assistance Center for Program Evaluation and Performance Measurement Project. In addition, Jason has participated in various research projects, trainings, and presentations related to performance measurement and data collection. He holds a master's degree in Justice, Law, and Society from American University.
