    Wg Cdr Varthaman piloting a MiG 21, an aircraft of 1960s vintage shot down a PAF F-16 with Close Combat R-73 Missile. His aircraft was apparently hit by ground fire He ejected on a Westerly heading & was captured by Pak Army forces.He was able to thwart a 24 Paki ac formation.
