The Rockets believe that the refs likely cost them the NBA title last year

NBA 3 hours ago
According to ESPN, the Rockets audited the officiating Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals against the Warriors and determined that 81 missed calls cost them more than 18 points in that game. They ended up losing by nine.

"As we told the Rockets, we do not agree with their methodology," a league spokesman tells and I. Our report details the math behind Houston's claims of losing 18 points to officiating in Game 7:

During the regular season I thought the Rockets lived "Rent Free" in the heads of the Warriors. This report tho.....

Here's some of the "analysis" in the Rockets report showing they really won game seven of the conference finals. It includes the refs not calling a foul on Harden that allowed Looney to pass it to Durant for a three. What a joke.

this is my favorite part of the ESPN article. Rockets said they lost 20 million in revenue due to not going to finals last year. Also that veteran officials “exhibit the most bias to our players”...

And yes, I'm aware the PR release, err, I'm sorry, report, claims they were cost 18 points in Game 7. Also claims they got screwed by the NBA not calling a foul ON THE ROCKETS because it led to a three later in the poss. And every possibly incorrect call treated as incorrect

Nearly every person on every team I talk to believes the refs are screwing them over. So no, sorry, I'm not going to take the methodology on the Rockets' PR release, which the league disagreed with by the way, as gospel. I don't believe they can be objective on this topic.

Interesting follow up. But here’s the thing. put a data driven, objective methodology for both teams based on expected points. That’s better than nothing. The league can disagree all they want until they show their own methodology. Else it’s moot.

Guys, the data is from the league. You can argue with the point evaluations, I guess, even though those are pretty cut and dried. But Houston didn’t make up this data internally. The league ADMITTED these were missed calls to them. it just doesn’t balance out GSW’s missed calls

Yes, the data is from the league. But the Rockets interpreted and sliced the data to their benefit by applying point evaluations even on "uncalled" or "indefinitive" calls. That's pretty aggressive in my opinion.

Make a spectacle of it. That's why the are going public with this. There are going to be massive audiences for Game 3 Saturday and Game 4 Monday. Fans have a fantastic opportunity to show the world what they think of all this. That can make a difference.

James Harden: "I just want a fair chance, man. Call the game the way it’s supposed to be called and I’ll live with the results...We all know what happened a few years back with Kawhi." Draymond Green: "I ain't trying to hear that."

The NBA has issued its last-2-minute report on Rockets-Warriors and says there were theee incorrect calls, all going against Houston. (They did also rule Draymond-defending-Harden’s 3 was correctly not called as a foul)

Following a number of controversial calls in Houston's Game 1 loss to the Warriors, Rockets star James Harden said he just wants a "fair chance" from the refs. But can the Rockets really complain about officiating at this point in the postseason?
