Motoring title What Car? has listed the 10 most and least frugal mainstream models you can buy today using its own True MPG tests that are based on real-world driving on town roads, rural routes and motorways. As you might imagine, large SUVs and sports cars dominate the list of vehicles with the lowest miles per gallon (mpg) figures, though it isn't just teeny city cars that have the most efficient at sipping petrol and diesel.
