30 - May 2019 the opening ceremony of the youth innovation center took place at the Department for youth affairs and sports of Shaartuz district with participation of Chairman of Shaartuz district, His Excellency Ambassador of Japan, JICA Tajikistan representatives, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative and community members.
Schoolchildren from Tajikistan became winners of the 1th International Contest for Environmental Projects of Schoolchildren on the Problem of Climate Change.
Dushanbe, April 30, 2018 – Gender sensitivity has been identified among other challenges listed in the National Disaster Risk Reduction Strategy for 2019-2030, presented at the meeting of the National Platform for Risk Reduction today in Dushanbe Plaza.
Gulrivoj Mirova, 17, has gone against the stereotypical perception of women in Tajik society by simply choosing to be an electrician. To her, it is a childhood dream come true. “I used to stand next to electricians, when they came to us [to fix something], flood them with questions and watch closely as they worked,” she says. To her village, however, it is a question of necessity.
Dushanbe, 25 December 2018 – UNDP holds the second annual technical meeting today to bring officials from the Committee of Emergency Situations and Civil Defense under the Government of Tajikistan and the Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority together in an effort to advance cross-border cooperation in disaster preparedness and risk mitigation. The meeting is the next step after last year’s initiation of the partnership through establishing a dialogue platform between the two government’s responsible bodies.
Kulyab, Tajikistan - On December 22, 2018, the official opening of the Civil Registration Office in the Kulyab city after reconstruction, which on a pilot basis will begin to function according to the concept of providing services in the “One-Stop Shop” format, implemented as part of the UNDP project “Support to Civil Registration System Reform in Tajikistan ”, funded by the Swiss Development Cooperation Office in Tajikistan.
Dushanbe, 06 December 2018 – United Nations Development program has conducted the first national workshop on strengthening opportunities for women in energy sector, one that has been inherently perceived as masculine. Representatives of governmental institutions, including the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources and Committee of Women and Family affairs, private sector, donors, financial institutions, and international organizations gathered to discuss ways of increasing women’s participation in the industry.
