Russia reveals its new submarine armed with nuclear-tipped drones

The Belgorod submarine, the world's longest, was launched from Russia's Sevmarsh plant under the watchful eye of President Putin, to whom the crew will report directly. The submarine is designed to carry up to eight nuclear-armed Poseidon drones, a new Russian super-weapon that the Kremlin claims is able to create a tsunami laced with nuclear material in order to wipe out coastal cities. The drones, which look like torpedoes but are much larger, are also capable of acting as unmanned underwater vehicles, operating miles below the waves to map the ocean floor using a sonar imaging system known as side-scanning.

Sarah Buckley Friedberg, 35, from Needham, Massachusetts, wrote about the impossible standards moms are expected to meet in a lengthy Facebook rant. The mother-of-three started her post by pointing out that women have to return to work just six to eight weeks after giving birth. She noted that society tells mothers they must excel at their careers, lose the baby weight, and have date nights with their husbands, among other things. The post has been shared more than 30,000 times since it was posted on April 18, and thousands of commenters have praised her for her honesty.

For the past three years, virtually nothing has hatched at the second biggest sites for emperor penguins in Antarctica and the start of this year is looking just as bleak, scientists have warned.

Indian rhino at Miami Zoo becomes first in the world to be born via artificial

Akuti, a seven-year-old Greater One-Horned Indian Rhinoceros, gave birth to the calf (pictured with its mother) at approximately 12.30am on Tuesday April 23 at Zoo Miami, Florida. Zoo staff said they were delighted with the first ever birth of the species by induced ovulation and artificial insemination. The calf appears to be in excellent health and a series of adorable photos capture the baby taking its first ever steps as it wobbles around its enclosure.

The young boy was seen struggling to keep his head above water as soon as he stepped into the pool in Liaoning, China. The 63-year-old man immediately jumped in and pulled him out.

The woman was riding an electric scooter along a road in south-west China's Guizhou province when the goose tumbled on her, causing her to fall off her bike and hit her head on a parked car.

Feline better? Two kittens are given oxygen masks after firefighters found them choking from smoke in an apartment blaze 

Crews surrounded the two kittens to help resuscitate the animals after they were rescued from an apartment fire in the Italian city of Turin, in which 15 residents had to be evacuated. The apartment was gutted by the blaze but the cats are now well, having only suffered from smoke inhalation.
