Chris Evans revealed he cried six times while watching Avengers: Endgame, as he gushed about his friendship with his cast mates.

The actor, 37, was speaking about how emotional he felt after watching it at the Marvel blockbuster's premiere at the Los Angeles Convention Centre on Monday when he made the candid admission.

Talking about the film, Variety reported the Captain America star as saying: 'I have a lot of my friends and family here tonight, and a lot of them are right up here.'

Referring to his cast mates, he went on: 'We have this bond that transcends what we do for a living… I cried like six times [tonight].'

While his co-star Mark Ruffalo, who plays The Hulk, went on to say: 'It’s been an amazing ride and so moving, I love all of you guys so much.

'It’s been the trip of a lifetime, and what you did up there tonight was so beautiful. My brother and sister Avengers, I love you so much.'

Moved beyond belief: Referring to his cast mates, Chris said at the premiere: 'We have this bond that transcends what we do for a living… I cried like six times [tonight]'

After hearing what Chris had said, some fans took to Twitter to react to, or reiterate, what he said about the screening.

One user wrote: 'Chris Evans cried six times at the Avengers Endgame premiere I am so not ready for this.'

While another fan added: 'Chris Evans said he cried three times during Avengers Endgame so I will be fully prepared to double that and cry six times'

In reaction to what he had said, one user said emotionally: 'I won't survive this.'

After watching the film at the LA premiere, one lucky fan gushed: 'I cried more than 6x @CaptainAmerica @ChrisEvans. Such a rollercoaster of emotions @Avengers.'

Avengers: Endgame follows on from Infinity War's epic, and traumatising, twist, which saw half of all life in the universe disintegrate after the evil demi-god Thanos collected all six infinity stones on the Infinity Gauntlet.

With only Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Hulk, Shuri (Letitia Wright), Rocket (Bradley Cooper), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), Okoye (Danai Gurira), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), War Machine (Don Cheadle), Captain America and Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) left on Earth - the team are now left in limbo.

While Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), Nebula (Karen Gillan) are adrift in space, with Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) alive in an unknown location.

The remaining Avengers must team up in one final stand against Thanos, and will also have to figure out how to bring back their loved ones.

Avengers: Endgame hits theatres April 26 in the US and in the UK on April 25.
