The director of 'Step Up Revolution' has been arrested for allegedly trying to burn down the Los Angeles home he shares with his Playboy Playmate wife after authorities said he attacked her.

Scott Speer, 36, is accused of striking his Michelle McLaughlin, 32, during an alleged domestic dispute while intoxicated and then lighting a broom on fire in an attempt to set fire to their home, TMZ reported.

Miss February 2008 is said to have suffered minor injuries in the altercation. 

Speer was arrested on a felony arson charge and was released from custody after posting a $250,000 bond.

DailyMail.com has reached out to the San Fernando police for additional information and is awaiting a reply.

Speer was said to have been heavily intoxicated when the events unfolded last week at the home he shares with his McLaughlin in the San Fernando Valley. 

Authorities said Speer lit the broom on fire with the intention of burning down the entire house. 

Both police and firefighters responded to the scene. 

The fire was able to be put out and Speer was arrested on an arson charge.

Speer may also face domestic violence charges, sources said.

Speer could not immediately be reached for comment.

Prior to their marriage, Speer dated Ashley Tisdale for two and half years, with their relationship ending in December of 2011.

McLaughlin was previously married to former professional baseball player Frank-Paul Santangelo. 

Two films that Speer directed, titled 'I Still See You' and 'Midnight Sun,' were released last year, featuring Bella Thorne.
