His sister Félicité was found dead in her London home after a reported heart attack last month, aged just 18.
And Louis Tomlinson, 27, has vowed to live in the moment more after revealing he had been focusing on the 'end game' when it comes to his life and his music career.

'I've been thinking a lot more about what success means to me. I feel like I've been mistranslating it for the last 3 years.
'Everything I've ever known, in my career has been straight down the middle pop. My expectations and aspirations are all shaped around my experiences, as much as I try and stay realistic I couldn't help but crave a hit single.'
He continued: 'It's because of this, I've spent so long on this album, trying to fit into top 40 radio when in fact maybe I should start with what I love and work from there instead of trying to write to a more specific formulae.
Pain: Félicité was found dead in her London home after a reported heart attack last month, aged just 18
Heartfelt: Louis bravely took to social media to reveal how he will be looking at his life and his career differently from now on
'Over the last few weeks I've put a lot of things into perspective and in fact what I should be doing is forgetting about perception and to a certain degree worry less about being defined on commercial success.
'I'm not here to compete with the likes of Drake and Ariana Grande. I'm here to make music I love and make my fans proud to say they're a fan.
'Turning a page today. Enjoy today and enjoy the ride! Don't get lost on the way up!'
Louis has returned to the studio on Friday after breaking his social media silence following his sister's shock death.
Making music: The One Direction star took to Instagram on Friday as he continued to work on new material in the studio
Singing: Louis has been working on some new material but wants to focus on writing about what he loves and not what will earn his a place in the top 40
The singer took to Instagram to post photos of himself clutching a guitar and posed with fellow musicians in the snap after revealing on Twitter he is back to record something he had written 'a few months ago'.
In another photo, Louis wears a baseball cap and headphones as he sings into a microphone.
He opted for a casual look with a royal blue sweatshirt, jeans and white trainers as he focused on recording vocals for a new hit.
The former One Direction star broke his social media silence this week to thank fans for their 'lovely words' following a tough month.
Breaking his silence: Louis tweeted last week: 'Just wanted to thank everyone for their lovely words over the past couple of weeks. Back in the studio today'
He wrote: 'Just wanted to thank everyone for their lovely words over the past couple of weeks. Back in the studio today to vocal something I wrote a few months ago. Sending you all loads of love x'
While his sisters Daisy, Lottie and Phoebe paid tribute to their sibling on social media in the days following Félicité's death, Louis decided to grieve in private.
Just five days before Félicité's death, the former One Direction star gave a candid interview about grief and how he coped when his mother Johanna passed away in 2016 following a battle with leukaemia.
His new song, Two of Us, is dedicated to his beloved mum.
He said: 'We can all kind of talk about it a little bit more and that’s why I think I feel good about singing the lyrics and speaking about it publicly...
'My mum always wanted me to play piano… really knowing that she liked this idea and with this song and video I just went for it and I think I pulled it off.'
Tragedy: Last month, Louis' 18-year-old sister Félicité was found dead in her west London home after suffering a reported heart attack
Félicité, a fashion designer and Instagram star who had almost 1.3million followers, had a tattoo celebrating her siblings - Louis, Lottie, Phoebe, Daisy, Doris, Ernest – inked on her arm in January.
She had reportedly turned into a diet and exercise-driven introvert and shut out her friends following her mother's death.
Friends of the 18-year-old, who was known fondly as Fizzy, said she had been struggling since her mother Johannah died and had turned from a 'happy, confident and bubbly' girl into a fitness-obsessive.
'When her mum died she really went into herself. She was never really the same... I still saw her often but she was closed off. It seemed like she'd shut down her trust,' a source told the Mirror.
The friend said relentless exercising took a physical toll on Félicité who started to rapidly drop weight.
They said: 'She had one of those figures where if she lost weight it was quite noticeable. Because she's quite an hourglass girl. When she lost the weight it was noticeable.'
The death of Félicité is being treated as 'unexplained' at this stage but a full post-mortem examination will take place and toxicology tests will be carried out in due course, according to police.
Tragic loss: The death of Felicite aged just 18 is the second devastating blow for the family in little over two years, after Louis' mother Johannah died of leukaemia in December 2016 (pictured together August 2015)
