#Russia: Airsoft Penza Anarchist “Terrorism” Case

On January 23 in St. Petersburg, the antifascist Viktor Filinkov disappeared. Two days later he was found – the press service of the St. Petersburg courts wrote that he was arrested and found guilty of involvement in a terrorist community that “shares an anarchist ideology.” A day later, members of the Public Monitoring Commission of St. Petersburg (body controling observance of human rights in detention facilities), came to visit him, it turned out that Filinkov was . On January 25, other person from St. Petersburg Igor Shishkin disappeared – he left to walk his dog. The dog came back home not alone, but with the security forces. The „Dzerzhinsky Court“ of Petersburg arrested Shishkin on the same charges as Filinkov. Journalists were not allowed to attend the court hearing. He was badly beaten up. Daniel Guérin: Three Problems of the Revolution

guerin-images11-e1311056828578Daniel Guérin (1904-1988) was a French libertarian communist who helped spark renewed interest in anarchism in the 1960s, first through his book, Anarchism: From Theory to Practice (1965), and then through his anthology of anarchist writings, Neither God Nor Master (1969; English translation published in 1998 by AK Press under the title, No Gods No Masters). I included excerpts from his 1965 essay, “Twin Brothers, Enemy Brothers,” in which Guérin discusses the continuing relevance of anarchism, in Volume Two of Anarchism: A Documentary History of Libertarian Ideas, together with a selection of his writings on homosexuality and social revolution (Selections 49 & 76), and Noam Chomsky‘s Introduction to the 1970 English edition of Anarchism: From Theory to Practice. The following excerpts, translated by Paul Sharkey, are from Guérin’s 1958 essay, “Three Problems of the Revolution,” reprinted in his collection of essays, In Search of a Libertarian Communism (Paris: Cahiers Mensuels Spartacus, 1984).

#Thessaloniki: Rebuild the #Libertatia Squat After it was Burned Down by Fascists

On January 21, 2018, a series of fascist attacks on emancipatory structures of the left-wing radical movement took place in the Greek city of Thessaloniki. Tens of thousands of fascists, nationalists, patriots and clericals had gathered to give new impetus to the long dispute over the name of Macedonia and the legacy of Alexander the Great. Nationalists in Greece and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) claim the name Macedonia in equal measure. Both states provoke themselves again and again for years, i.e. by naming historical places or airports after Alexander the Great. Since 2014, there have been no negotiations between the two countries.

After #RoteFlora, #NoG20 & #CologneForAfrin Demos in #Germany: How can we Respond to The Authoritarian State?

On January 27, 2018 a demonstration against the aggression of the Turkish army was stopped and dissolved by riot cops in Cologne, Germany. Until the cops dissolved the demo it was a peaceful demonstration in solidarity with Rojava, but it wasn’t the first time the cops used the endless list of terms that was imposed to organizers of a registered demonstration, to attack and dissolve a demonstration of anarchists and/or the radical left. This brings up the question; How can we respond to the authoritarian state?

Video: On December 21, 2013 riot cops stopped a demo in solidarity with the Rote Flora squat in Hamburg, Germany, after about 100 meters.

#Hambacher Forest: Now all the More! – Call for Germany-Wide Day of Action on Feb. 3th

On January 22, the police tried in vain to clear the occupied barricades in the forest with an expensive action. Even the attempt to present the “violent ecoterrorists” to the present regional deputies of the SPD and AfD failed. For our resistance is colorful, courageous and broader than ever. Nevertheless, now 9 climate activists are in custody. They are accused of resistance to law enforcement officers. For opposing their bodies to the evacuation machines. For having decided to peacefully but firmly demonstrate against lignite mining and for a climate-friendly world. Never before in the history of this forest occupation, so many activists were imprisoned at the same time.
