    Cong malign Savarkar by saying he signed mercy petition He was arrested in 1910 & sentenced to 50-year imprisonment Transported to Andaman He only signed petition for general amnesty for all political prisoners He was in jail for full 14 years And Nehru?

    It's this very cell where Savarkar spent hours writing. In total he wrote 9 mercy petitions to the British, committing allegiance towards the British Raj! Savarkar is the only prisoner in the history of Cellular Jail to have written mercy petitions to the British.
