Matt’s response to my question was excellent (I was first to rush up to the mic 😉 ) — and I agree with all of his points (well, IDK much about the “technical details” 😉 ).
I am also not aware of *technology* that would make my suggestion “really easy today”, but I have written some more about how my suggestion might nonetheless be possible *if the WordPress community chooses to move in that direction*. I can imagine that any solution would also need to be “distributed” (in the sense of voluntary participation in networks [I think perhaps in an arrangement quite similar to what Tim Berners-Lee used to refer to as a “semantic web”]).
A 50 minute session with Matt Mullenweg, co-founder of WordPress: it includes a 30 minutes interview by Om Malik, founder of Gigaom, and 20 minutes of QandA from the audience.
