As a German radical in London who was initially suspected of plotting to assassinate Kaiser Wilhelm II, Charles Lahr was under constant surveillance from the Met. Best known for his bookshop and his involvement in radical publishing, Lahr was at the heart of a wide-ranging network of radicals in the early twentieth century.
