Have a question?

For operations, we count both indexing operations and search operations:

  • What is an indexing operation: An operation is counted when a record is added, updated or deleted. If you perform a batch update containing N records, it will count for N operations.
  • What is a search operation: A search operation is counted when a search is performed. In autocomplete and search-as-you-type implementations, a new search is performed on every keystroke. In case your search engine is querying N indices at each keystroke (a product index, a brand index, a categories index, etc.) then one keystroke will correspond to N operations.

For more details, please refer to our detailed documentation.

If fewer operations are used than included in the plan or than purchased with overage, they do not roll over to the following service period.

Simply put, a record is an item or object that contains data that someone would search for. The total number of records is equal to the sum of records that you have in all of your indices. Note that each pre-sort of your records creates a copy of the relevant pre-sorted records and as a result, increases your total record count.

Each plan allows you to store a certain number of records at any given time. You can update, delete, or add as many records as you want as long as the total number of the indexed records does not exceed the inclusion of the plan. If you go over the inclusion, you’ll be charged an over-quota based on the maximum number of records you’ve reached. Depending on your plan, there may be an opportunity to pre-purchase additional records at the beginning of your contract period at a discounted price.

Note: To offer some flexibility, Algolia ignores the 3 days with the most records in each month before calculating the total number of records.

You do. You retain ownership of all the data you send to your user account.

If you’re an Enterprise plan, your dedicated Customer Success Manager will reach out to you to make sure that Algolia is meeting your unique needs.

If you’re on a different plan, overage charges will be added to your next bill.

Overage is billed as follows:

  • Community Plan: overage is not available in the Community plan. For additional capacity and features, please see our other available plan options. You’ll need to upgrade to another plan to gain additional access.
  • Starter Plan: if you exceed your allotted monthly usage of 250,000 operations, or 50,000 records, then you’ll be billed the following (billing for last month’s overage will occur with your next monthly bill):
    • $10 for every additional 100,000 operations you consume.
    • $10 for every additional 20,000 records you store.
  • Pro Plan: if you exceed your allotted monthly usage of 5 million operations, or 1 million records, then you’ll be billed the following (billing for last month’s overage will occur with your next monthly bill):
    • $5 for every additional 100,000 operations you consume.
    • $5 for every additional 20,000 records you store.
  • Enterprise Plans: because these are tailored plans for our customers, please get in touch with support@algolia.com.

Yes! We know you’ll love Algolia, so please feel free to try it before you decide that it’s right for your company - we offer a 14 day free trial with many of our Enterprise features, including our search API and community support & documentation. Signup here.

You need to purchase a separate plan for each domain AND for each legal entity. Domain is defined at the sub-domain level and includes mobile apps associated with that domain. Examples: www.abc.com and xyz.abc.com are two domains. Also, abc.com and abc.fr are two domains.
Note that Free plans do not have the same analytics as the other plans. Free has access only to a weekly digest email whereas the other plans have dashboard access, with analytics data that covers their respective retention periods.
