Trump’s tax cuts are only for the rich

It’s tax season, and most workers have either a higher tax bill or a lower refund this year.

Thank Trump and Congress for slashing deductions for individual property and state income taxes. Regular folks have counted on these deductions for years. Also eliminated, for the most part, were exemptions for personal work-related expenses like job training, safety clothing and equipment.

Meanwhile, billionaires and their corporations — who were already saving hundreds of billions in loopholes and subsidies — keep an extra $2 trillion in “tax relief.” Relief they “earned” by promising employee bonuses and the creation of good jobs. Bull! Only 4 percent of U.S. workers got a bonus and the good jobs didn’t materialize. The new tax changes specifically aid companies that move jobs overseas.

To pay for tax cuts and increase the military budget, Congress is slashing food stamps, education, and healthcare. It is poised to reduce Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare. All to make the rich even richer.

Trump’s tax plan, like every capitalist scheme, is really a theft, by the 1 percent, of the wealth we create. What a superb argument for expropriating the criminally wealthy and spending public money on the public.
