True story: When I was starting out in entertainment I was advised to take on a stage name that was more “ethnically ambiguous” like “Alexandra Reynolds.”
-
And we all know what "ethnically ambiguous" actually means.

I was waiting for this pic to load for qwhite a while
-
Damn really miss the opportunity for “quite a white”
-
But some people would possibly not get it so of course I couldn't risk it

My name is Kamal and StarChucks always gets it wrong...... camal, camel, kameel, onetime kid you not it was “kavaan” so I started saying it’s Kevin and girl wrote “Cavin” thinking he can’t be Kevin..... Now I just say random names from star wars like r2d2, Jedi
-
I keep a running list of all the ways Starbucks and other places misspell my name. I figure I’ll use them as alien names in a future sci-fi project I write... pic.twitter.com/VLw3qxjPWA
-
I also tried shortening my name by saying just Kam, I got Cao, Cam (not bad), Car & Can. Worst I got is Sahal for Kamal and Que for Kay There’s no freakin Connection!!

I'm confused now! Why did you introduce yourself as Hasaan Minhaaj at the dinner though?https://youtu.be/uDmSZX_zVuQ

At some point your own name can give you anxiety from having to correct people so much, so you just accepte the name people have given you. I’m glad he got to courage to make people get it right this time around.
