Home-Made Music For Home-Made People Vol. 8: "Sexy But Chic" / Ode To Samantha Fox (Harsh Blend) (cassette, Insane Music, 1990)

A lovely compilation poking fun at a beauty. Includes all the inserts... not safe for work I believe is the word people use in such a case

Discussiestukken Van De Stalinistische School (cassette, WW Tapes WC 11, 198?)

I posted quite a bit of tapes by Dutch punk band Second Auschwitz, the band of Jan van den Einden. He was very active in the first half of the 80s in Helmond, a small Dutch city down south. He was also a writer and recorded a bunch of Dada inspired spoken word tapes. I guess that is where this comes in; people talking about communism and a bit of music from old records. Is it serious? I wouldn't know. Not on Discogs. Released on Van Den Eijnden's own WW Tapes. His letters were always very insulting and very funny. I wonder what became of him!

Randy Greif - Live In Los Angeles 3-13-87 (cassette, Swinging Axe Productions)

"Since the mid 1970's, Randy Greif has been pushing the boundaries of auditory arts, often incorporating electronic, computer and concrete music with spoken word, "sound theater", and field recordings. Location recordings in places such as Amazonia, New Guinea, and Thailand have found their way, often manipulated, into some of Greif's music, branding it as "tribal" electronics. Trademark styles are dense layers of atmospherics, cut-up vocals, and shifting minimal rhythms. "Dark" and "hallucinatory" are often used to describe the overall tone of his work." He was also a member of Static Effect and Stylus. Later on he released a bunch of CDs including 5 CDs with reading of Alice In Wonderland set to his music.

Seemen ‎– In Your Hands (cassette, Exart, 1989?)

Despite various releases that I see on Discogs I only heard this tape. Apparently they are an "experimental group from Austin, Texas" with one Kai Spelletich as their sole member.

Blue Murder (cassette, Staaltape, 1982)

People often think that Staaltape, the label connected to Staalplaat, the cassette store from Amsterdam (now based in Berlin), is an industrial music label, with releases by Laibach as their first, but before that they released Blue Murder. This was six piece band from Amsterdam, following Soviet Sex, with some great guitar tunes and vocals. Later on they also released a bunch of records. Maarten van der Ploeg became a well-known designer and computer artist and died in 2004. Recently there a book about his life and work was published
