Nonprofit-y Goodness at DrupalCon Seattle

DrupalCon Seattle is just a couple of weeks away. Here are a few parts of the conference that will be of especially interest to nonprofit types.

Drupal Event Organizer Sessions at DrupalCon Seattle

Less than two weeks remain until the start of DrupalCon Seattle and the Event Organizers have a packed schedule. We’ve been meeting virtually throughout the year, and we’re all looking forward to the opportunity to meet in person and dig into the conversations further. Here’s a list of where we’ll be—from “official” organizer events, to sessions and BoFs that are of interest for organizers. Whether you’re an event organizer, interested in starting an event in your area, or just want to flag one of us down, here’s where to look.

JSON:API lands in Drupal core

Drupal core now provides an out-of-the-box JSON:API implementation, marking another major milestone toward making Drupal API-first.

In Search of Elephants

As Community Liaison, I find it important to liaise face-to-face whenever I can, and an opportunity presented itself to visit a community I have not been able to spend time with until now; that in India.

This was going to not only be the first time I’ve worked with the community in India but also my first time in India. I couldn’t help but wonder, “Will I see any elephants?”

The Open Web can still win

Today, the world wide web celebrates its 30th birthday. In 1989, Sir Tim Berners-Lee invented the world wide web and changed the lives of millions of people around the globe, including mine.

YOYOW - or You Own Your Own Words - is a content value network based on blockchain technology. Its goal is to build a network that uses the blockchain to quantify contribution in the content production area, via a decentralized consensus method.

Regarding critical security patches, we hear your pain.

Headless CMS: REST vs JSON:API vs GraphQL

We compare three different web services implementations based on request efficiency, operational simplicity, API discoverability, and more.

Findings: Instead of adding both JSON:API and GraphQL to Drupal 8 core, I believe only JSON:API should be added. That said, Drupal's GraphQL implementation is fantastic, especially when you have the developer capacity to build a bespoke API for your project.

Keeping up to date with information for Drupal Event Organizers

The events that every year bring us together all over the World are the lifeblood of our vibrant and diverse community. From BADCamp in California, USA, through Global Training Days in Omsk, Russia to Contribution Weekends in Leeds, UK, we have a combined wealth of knowledge and experiences but also challenges and opportunities.

At the Drupal Association, we value highly the commitment made by those who volunteer their time to make these events happen. If I wasn’t British, and therefore terribly understated, at this point I would probably say “You rock!”.
