Of course. But if you want NATURAL skin tones I would start with rather exact colours...

Even Natural colors are still subjective though. Everyone's eyes perceive light differently.
Like no matter how on point the color is in Sony cameras, that still doesn't disregard that people don't find them pleasing.

Why does everyone trust that site that has compared about 9 cameras most of them Sony?

There are far better places to check that have 100 or so cameras tested for many years now.

Even the 6Dm2 which has bad hue acuity for a Canon, scores higher than all the Sony.

Its important to note which hues are off as well. This is a big reason many people dont like the "look" of Sony. Green haze in yellowish skin.

And yes I trust these measurements, seem very solid.

RAW still uses the cameras CFA.

You can not make a Nikon photo look like a Canon photo.

You have to spend an insane amount of time in each hue slider.

You can match one hue but it will throw off something else.

Take a photo of the same model in a yellow bikini. You will never get the skin and bikini to match. One or the other.

And because of CFA, it affects the quality as well. Not just the hue itself.

So many smart people here have obviously never tested 2 cameras side by side.

actually, generally incandescent has a high CRI (color rendering index) in the 90s. 100 would be the sun on the scale. we have to learn in architecture. It most be other reason. I did watch this video a few weeks ago.

CRI only works for incandescent light and the sun. The lighting industry has been grappling for decades with finding a way to classify how accurately a particular light renders colors. They don't really care about photographers, it's more for department stores, fabric dealers, car dealerships, rug merchants, places where expensive goods are sold and a major part of the decision is based on color.
I read an article recently that says they're still not close to agreeing on a measurement. Some people don't even like that new standard, whatever it's called.

It's just what we've been conditioned to see by all the Canon images out there and their "pleasing" color. Just like when you go into Best Buy and look at the TVs. They've got their colors and tone adjusted to look overly vibrant and punchy like a Ken Rockwell photo. Most, if not all manufacturers, actually have a demo color calibration specifically made for the showroom floor! A crowd pleaser, but far from what the actual movie/show is supposed to look like.

Since there are a lot of threads in the Sony forums about it, there are a lot with that preference.
And for them to create threads and spend so much time trying to achieve Canon colors shows it is a concern for then.

It is similar to overweight people trying to get thin. There are lots of discussions and "solutions about how to do it.
But rarely is it the other way around.
That makes it easy to surmise which is more preferable.

Thats the strange irony about Sony users. A majority of forum threads are about “how to do get Canon colors” or “which Canon lenses do you use”. Wouldn’t it simply be easier to just buy a Canon camera lol

Odd, when i owned my only Canon camera, DR was never an issue. And i have also owned a D800 as well as Sony, Panasonic, and Olympus. Lower DR only means a bit more shadow noise, and only if you push shadows.

Some NR and all it costs is a little micro detail in shadows. Good thing i dont pixel peep them shadows. Color on the other hand is a far bigger issue. For certain brands anyway.

Max iso i own sony camera and colors were never issue too. What is our personal experience is hardly true for everyone else.

You've got it backwards. Max DR is fixed. Can't be changed/improved. You can do many things to reduce it, though. Colors, on the other hand, are very flexible. Once you get out of the RAW editor loop, you can create custom profiles to match almost any camera out there with any other.

Just tested a huge wedding group photo on Sony's Imaging Edge and Adobe Camera Raw. All defaults/everything zeroed out, Camera Standard, WB on Daylight in IE. It only took +10 on tint and +20 on shadows to get things matching 95%. That said, as much as I like Sony, their editing software is horrifically slow, and I could never imagine anyone using it for a high volume workflow.

@Blue, yeah you can easily correct adobe camera match profiles to match the original Jpeg and I've made several profiles to correct it but apparently a lot of people don't know how to do it and we get this endless troll meme about "terrible greenish Sony skin tones".

Yup, and this was on my A6300, before Sony changed their color rendering. WB plays a huge role, and despite third party software having preset WBs, most don't hit the mark the first party software sets. My old Nikon D90 was very pink in daylight. Needed -10 tint. My GX85 is very far off, needing -550 temp and -5 tint, or it's golden hour all day long. And I'm sure those aren't the only two cameras that need adjusting to get to what the manufacturer specifies as daylight WB.

Color work is tricky, but with a lot of experience, you can get good skin tones out of any camera. Even if people say it's a lot of work, you only have to do it once or twice (daylight vs incandescent). Then you can just drop those settings into a preset to have a more corrected baseline to start off with. I prefer to make my own profiles, though, so my editing style doesn't have to change when my camera does.

If I get the white balance right while shooting with my
Canon, skin color is no problem. Canon makes you work
hard for correct white balance.
