Weren’t you just saying Qld had cheap power? Looks like 2006 disagrees. Tas has hydro because it has mountains and rain, Qld &NSW use coal because they have it. SA uses lots of solar/wind and buys most of its power when the weather isn’t perfect.

We will - as we should - make the transition to new forms of clean power but it will be much more expensive than the advocates say because wind generation, in particular, needs to be backed up, or firmed up, and the grid will have to be retooled... and that will cost a bomb.
