Run-off Election Results

After a tie in the 2019 OSI Board of Directors election between Christine Hall, and Mariatta Wijaya, a run-off election was required. The run-off election ran from March 18th, through March 25th, 2019, resulting in a victory for Christine Hall, by a slim margin of only two votes.

Software Freedom Conservancy Becomes an Open Source Initiative Affiliate Member

Palo Alto, CA - March 14, 2019The Software Freedom Conservancy joins long list of Open Source Initiative Affiliate Members

The Open Source Initiative (OSI), the founding organization of the open source software movement, is excited to announce the Affiliate Membership of the Software Freedom Conservancy. "Conservancy", a public charity, that works to promote, improve, develop, and defend free and open source projects. Conservancy provides a home and infrastructure for projects such as Git, Godot Engine, Inkscape, Outreachy, Samba, and many more. Conservancy's support allows free and open source software developers to focus on what they do best—writing and improving code for the general public—while Conservancy takes care of the projects' needs that do not relate directly to software development and documentation.

Linux Australia Joins Open Source Initiative

 

PALO ALTO, Calif. - July 5, 2017— Linux Australia, Inc, the organization representing thousands of Linux and open source community members in Australia, was recently accepted as a member of the Open Source Initiative, the global non-profit working to promote and protect open source software, further strengthening international relationships with partner organizations committed to free and open source software, hardware and culture.

San Francisco Open Source Voting System Project Continues On

This update on San Francisco's project to develop and certify the country's first open source voting system was submitted by OSI Individual Member Chris Jerdonek. While Chris is a member (and President) of the San Francisco Elections Commission, he is providing this update as an individual and not in his official capacity as a Commissioner.
