Exactly - the family were accommodated by emergency out of hours team in one of the LA's but not until around 8.30 by which time the children were distressed and exhausted. Totally avoidable as LA No1 have acknowledged now they have duty to assess....

We're assisting a homeless family who've had to traipse from one council to another FOUR times as both denying responsibility. Unlawful, and also outrageous that neither LA has the decency to safeguard these children and start an assessment, and sort out their differences later

An amazing initiative from our friends at p17. We hope the letters and data from this help put pressure on the state to end NRPF and all hostility. This government are retreating from their duties of care and gotta stop leaving it up to P17 to keep vulnerable people safe

Providing solidarity and practical/emotional support to migrants requesting support from local authorities is one of the most important ways you can defend people's rights and challenge the hostile environment - if you have some time give it to 🙏

Glad that this was debated in Westminster but the short mention of NRPF on page 48 is not enough. Universal would leave no child behind. Families without access to mainstream benefits aren't eligible for FSM in way too many schools across the country.
