So, you’re looking for love? Something a little more serious than a Grindr hook up?
Dating within the gay community has always been hard. Most sites and apps are made with heterosexual couples in mind. There hasn’t been a lot of love for gay and queer couples up until recently. And even so, a lot of the sites are geared toward male/male hook ups and there are hardly any sites specifically for queer women.
So, I made a list of the best dating sites for queer dating. Now, you’ll have to take this with a grain of salt – especially since Tinder didn’t make the short list. And – spoiler – neither did Grindr.

• HER
This app is for app you ladies out there! Cue dance hall horn.
For real though, now there is finally a location-based app that is specifically for queer women. Yes, just for women. On this app you’re not going to find creepy guys who’ve checked the woman-seeking-women box in hopes of living out his lesbian threesome fantasy. We all know that this never works for this kind of guy, but it sure doesn’t stop them for trying.
The best part about HER is how inclusive it is. This site isn’t just for our cis-ters, if you know what I mean. This site does not assume you’re a cis woman, it allows users on the site who identify as genderfluid, non-binary, queer, and the list goes on.
HER is a free app, however they have their premium perks which start at $9.99 a month. And like Tinder the app links to your Facebook account, so you can be more confident that you’re not getting a total catfish (though you should always do your internet snooping).
• OkCupid
Ok, so I know that this site isn’t exactly for gay people by gay people. But OkCupid was one of the first dating services to make their app significantly more inclusive.
While you’re not going to find a lot of sites that cater specifically to Trans and gender non-conforming people, this site offers you the choice between 22 different and 13 different sexual orientations. Impressive for a mainstream dating site, am I right?
OkCupid’s bio section goes far beyond the word limit that’s offered by HER and Tinder, so you can be sure to find some interesting stuff in those bios… just don’t get carried away with all that space, or else you’ll end up looking like THAT weirdo.
• Chappy
Nope, this isn’t Grindr. Or Scruff. Or Hornet.
This app is not here to be used to find a hookup. This is for when you, as a gay man, actually want a serious relationship.
Chappy – which is a pretty dapper name – wants to be a safer space for gay dating, it wants to be a space without headless torsos, unwanted dick pics, and a place where saying something like no-fems or no-Asians is NOT common place. They want to bring some class to gay dating.
While it’s not as big as Grindr, you at least wont be bombarded by people looking for some NSA action.

Dating is difficult all on its own. So, when you limit your dating pool to one specific demographic dating is like playing a video game with the difficulty level cranked up past “expert”.
Dating within a specific group of women is pretty difficult at first but you can adapt! When it comes to dating older women, younger men need to step their game up. When you decide to date outside of your age range, you have to be able to relate to an entirely different generation of women. They’re unlikely to respond to the same kind of jokes and flirting that younger women might. Additionally, they’ll have completely different expectations for their partner! So here are a few steps to mastering dating older women!
1. Do your research
If you pan on dating women of a certain age, you’re going to have to do some research! No older woman is going to want to talk about your glory days in college or memes you find on twitter.
I highly recommend reading up on food and wine. Marathon a few Bravo! shows to get an idea of what older women are watching (hint: pay close attention to the housewives of every city!). Read a book or two, and by books, I mean contemporary literature and the classics not anything “written” by a sports star.
You want to appear cultured for your age, women won’t want to date the male equivalent of young, dumb bimbo. Learn a few things so you can keep up a conversation.
2. Man up
Yes, cougars are attracted to youth… but that being said they aren’t attracted to immaturity. So, don’t think acting like a frat boy is going to fly with women of a certain age. You’re going to have to learn to act like a grown man if you haven’t figured that out yet.
This means learning to communicate, not playing love games, and being respectful of her as a woman… not as a sex object. You’re not going to get away with treating cougar hookups like the way you treat all those twenty-somethings you’ve ghosted in the past.
3. Dress well
Again, you want to embrace your youth but still come off as refined. So, learn to dress yourself. If you don’t have one, buy a blazer or two. Dress like a grown-ass man but maintain your youthful swagger so make sure you’re trendy!
4. Use your manners
Don’t be acting like some child around older women! You want them to be attracted to you, not reminded of their brat of a child.
Say please, say thank you, limit your swearing and use of the word “lit”, and for god-sakes open the door for her.
Older women want to be treated like the goddesses they’ve realized themselves to be.

5. Pretend age doesn’t exist, but be aware of it
Yes, there is an age difference. Yes, it’s probably obvious. But you don’t want to highlight it with conversation topics or body language. Pretend like age isn’t a thing, yet still understand the differences between the two of you.
6. Be everything she wants without being a total pushover
Different cougars are going to want different things from you. Some are going to want to date, some are going to want to bang, some are going to want you to be their sugar baby. Keep an eye out for what she might want and be the solution to that craving!
But don’t be a total pushover. This woman is an equal, not your mother.
7. Commit!
Do these things! Commit to being the perfect man for any given cougar! Change your age range on Tinder to include MILFs! Join a site like Seeking Arrangement! Go out there and hunt yourself a cougar!

If you attend NSU, it is most likely because you are interested in the fields being studied and you have goals that align with what they teach. Well more likely than not, every person attending probably finds themselves in that boat.
You’ll be surrounded by tons of people with the same goals and ambitions as you, making it nearly impossible not to make friends.

2) Vacation
While you will certainly be studying and working during your time at NSU, it also sounds like a sweet getaway for a few weeks. Each year, the event is held in a different Nordic country, so you’ll be traveling in order to attend.
Being summer as well, the trip can serve as a great, little getaway from your reality and normal routine of things.

1) Networking
If you attend for any reason at all, networking should be it. This is a vital opportunity to meet superiors within your field of interest and really get to know them. You’ll be spending the week with tons of very smart and hardworking people; making your name a familiar one could end up being crucial with landing a job later.
NSU is the perfect opportunity to network and meet like-minded people within the same field as you.
