    on this Day : On 01 Apr'54, Air Marshal Subroto Mukerjee took over as Commander-in-Chief of IAF.When Change in Designation Act 1955 was passed,title of Commander-in-Chief was replaced by Chief of the Air Staff. Thus,he became first Indian Commander-in-Chief & CAS.

    : 1st July 2016 - First squadron with LCA-Tejas was raised. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) handed over the first two aircraft to Indian Air Force. The 45 Sqn 'Flying Daggers', became the first squadron to fly indigenously developed LCA aircraft.
