The UNDP Country Office in Uzbekistan held a meeting of the Coordination Council for Capital Market Reforms with the participation of representatives of ministries, departments, and representatives of the IFIs.
A three-day training is held in Tashkent for about 30 specialists of state institutions of Uzbekistan engaged in the development of foreign trade and customs administration.
On 27 February 2019 in Nukus, Mr. Levan Bouadze, UNDP Resident Representative a.i., handed over agricultural equipment and machinery to the Forestry Committee of Karakalpakstan, as well as to the pasture cooperatives established within the framework of the "Developing climate resilience of farming communities in the drought prone parts of Uzbekistan" project implemented by the Centre of Hydrometeorological Service at the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Uzhydromet) and UNDP.
UNDP, the Global Environment Facility, together with the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Ecology and Environmental Protection (Goskomecology), are planning to develop and establish a Biodiversity Conservation Information Management System (BCIMS). At the same time, Biodiversity of Uzbekistan Resource Center – open internet portal will be created.
In the Turakurgan district of the Namangan region, UNDP organized a seminar for horticultural farms and agrofirms about results of introduction of the information system for monitoring, warning and combating pests and plant diseases and benefits of its implementation on the field.
The Senate of Oliy Majlis jointly with the Capital Market Development Agency and UNDP has held support organized a consultation meeting with heads of representative offices of international financial institutions accredited in Uzbekistan. The meeting aimed to discuss coordination of interagency and international cooperation in developing the capital market and creating a healthy competitive environment.
Five winners of a mass media competition for reporting on “Justice in the Rule of Law” were announced at an awards ceremony at the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan today. The awards were presented as part of the Rule of Law Partnership in Uzbekistan, a project of the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan, the United States Agency for international Development (USAID) and UNDP.
