I still whole heartedly believe that Nintendo needs to do what Microsoft did with the controller lab and let us custom design a switch. Bring back the atomic colors, let us use Nintendo characters and so on. Charge an extra $100, people will pay it.

Man getting the news about that Star Wars game was a buuuuuummmmmer. Hopefully something better will be done with Star Wars going forward. I think I disagree with it being 100% a safe bet even tho EA is publishing, Respawn has to keep the lights on somehow with a free game. My guess is motive comes from both ends, but I can’t be sure without anything concrete. Also, I’ll give the video a watch!
Can someone find a source confirming the pricing model was an EA thing and not a Respawn thing? Everyone here is assuming EA is doing this, but I’m not so sure. It’s easy to point finger at the bad guy. Respawn has the keep the lights on somehow with a free game. Maybe they wanted to price things this way.

The game was free, what are we freaking out about?
It is free which is great, I love it. But making a game free then charging more money for three weapon skins than a full price game is just annoying. Like I'd rather buy the game for £50, it have like three maps and unlock whatever I want because of skill/level. Then maybe spending a bit more in the future for dlc.
Yeah I hear ya, but I almost prefer this model for this type of game. I’ll enjoy the free game, let a minority who think the price is worth it pay for as many cosmetics as they want, and then enjoy the steady stream of updates thanks to the financial incentive Respawn gets. Win win for me.
Some of you have forgotten this was a free game and buying stuff in game supports Respawn more than EA. Let’s be positive yeah? Great game that we all have enjoyed a ton so far.
