Seeking Justice in Lakardowo

Lakardowo, a small village of 80,018 inhabitants in the Jetis District in Mojokerto in East Java, has become a dumpsite of hazardous and toxic materials (B3 waste) by a waste treatment facility operated by PT. Putra Restu Ibu Abide (PRIA).

The villagers has been suffering from groundwater contamination due to this practice; and it is also affecting socio-economic and environmental processes in the area. Women and children comprise the highest number of victims.

PT. PRIA's processing plant is engaged in transportation, processing, and utilization of B3 Wastes and Non-B3 Wastes throughout East Java and Bali. Since 2010, the factory had been practicing illegal activities, from dumping and burning hazardous waste on barren land to employing local people without the minimum protection equipment.

This film depicts how the dumpsite is continuously damaging the environment and the health of the locals. They took the protests on the streets urging the government to shut down the facility and save the village.

Lakardowo, salah satu desa kecil di Mojokerto, Jawa Timur, telah menjadi tempat penimbunan limbah B3 secara illegal oleh pabrik PT. Putra Restu Ibu Abadi (PT. PRIA), namun merata di pemukiman warga.

PT. PRIA merupakan pabrik pengolah dan pemanfaatan limbah B3 dan non B3 se-Jawa Timur dan Bali dengan sengaja menimbun dan membuang limbah B3 sembarangan sehingga merusak lingkungan, sumber air, dan kesehatan masyarakat.
Sutamah, Nurasim, Suhan, Heru, Prigi Bersama masyarakat Desa Lakardowo lainnya bertekad memperjuangkan hak atas lingkungan sehat yang telah direnggut oleh PT. PRIA dengan turun ke jalan mencari keadilan atas bumi Lakardowo.
