Wage against corporate greed

As the Australian Council of Trade Unions launches its wages campaign in the lead up to the May federal election, the scare campaign around workers’ wages that is being run in the mass media on behalf of employers, flies in the face even of calls for the need for wages to increase by the likes of the Reserve Bank governor.  more ...

Editorial – History calls

US weapons not on table

The chance that North Korea will give up its nuclear weapons approximate the chance of survival a snowball has in hell. Whatever one thinks about the leadership of North Korea, with 100 percent certainty we can say the North Koreans act based on what they see the United States actually do as opposed to any promises Donald Trump makes.  more ...

Brexit: Fact or fiction?

There is a lot more fiction than fact in the Brexit debate, the smoke and mirrors being created by the establishment here in Ireland, in Britain, and in the EU. The government are up to their necks in the propaganda war, and have failed to deal with Brexit in Ireland’s interest. Instead they have propped up the false narrative created in Brussels.  more ...

Marxist fashionistas

Not a “position” as such – though some Marxists have also been notable fashionistas (and others, distinctly scruffy dressers). However a Marxist approach can reveal quite a lot. Fashion is (arguably) unique to and a characteristic of our species. Some other creatures adorn, advertise or conceal themselves by “wearing” “foreign objects.” But in no case (as far as is known) is there any significant social transmission or evolution of habit. And clothing – its wearing and manufacture – is peculiar to humanity.  more ...

On the 6th anniversary of the passing of Hugo Chávez, Commander in chief of the Bolivarian Revolution in Venezuela, your example keeps defeating imperialism. Chávez lives on!

Fascism in power is the open terrorist dictatorship of the most reactionary, chauvinistic and
most imperialist elements of finance capital.
