Sometimes books get damaged on their way to us, or in storage, or through simple mishaps in the warehouse, and then can't be sold as 'new' or at full price. They're still perfectly good on the inside, but previously we've only been selling them fairly haphazardly, to people who come into the warehouse and on stalls and the like. Now, though, you may notice a 'Condition' tab under the 'Product Options' on some of our books, which is where we'll list damaged stock when we have it, and which will apply a discount automatically when you add it to your basket. The vast majority of these will be bumped edges or creased covers, but if you want to know more details about a particular damaged item you can email us to ask.
Unfortunately, we will not be able to apply any other discounts (Friends, Trade, Library, &c.;) to damaged items – but this is because we're listing them for as little as we can to begin with.
NB: Some items, due to stock fluctuations or being out of print, may only be available as 'Damaged'. For most of the older books where this is the case, they're likely to be out of print, and the condition is more likely to be a bit scruffy around the edges ('shelf-worn') rather than bumped or maimed.
