Sean-nós singer Sorcha Ní Ghuairim, from Galway, Ireland, was heavily involved in the Gaelic revival, which sought to revive interest in the Irish language and Irish culture. In 1957, she recorded "Sorcha Ní Ghuairim Sings Traditional Irish Songs" for Moses Asch at Folkways Records. As a traditional sean-nós singer, Ní Ghuairim performs unaccompanied throughout the album.
