'Always On' Tech Raises Privacy Worries, Group Says

Law360, New York (July 13, 2015, 5:29 PM ET) -- A privacy watchdog group on Friday urged the Federal Trade Commission and the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate companies such as Google Inc. and Amazon.com Inc. that make “always on” consumer devices that secretly record conversations and other personal interactions in people’s homes.

In a letter to FTC Chairwoman Edith Ramirez and U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch laws, public interest group Electronic Privacy Information Center pushed the Justice Department to look into whether devices like an Internet-connected Smart TV made by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd....
