Let's make tacos the official food of Texas! Whether you grew up here in Texas or you got here as soon as you could, you’re eating tacos. In Texas, people eat tacos on a weekly basis. Hell, tacos were here before Texas was Texas!

Rooted in tradition Mexicana and infused with Texas food culture, tacos can be eaten all across the Lonestar State. In Texas, you can find tacos almost anywhere, not just at Mexican or Tex-Mex restaurants but food trucks, trailers, gas stations, Asian food places, barbecue joints and even All-American restaurants.

Tacos are more than just this new trendy food. We've been eating tacos from our abuelita's kitchens way before the days of the Alamo. It's pretty much part of our daily diet and people in Texas are die-hard taco fans, whether it's fighting over breakfast tacos, brisket tacos or showing our love for traditional al pastor, carnitas or fajitas, we love to share the taco love and fight for favorite spots, from El Paso to Corpus Christi, the Rio Grande Valley to Dallas and Laredo to Houston. Trust me, I know tacos, not only because I eat them everyday but the Tacos of Texas team traveled to 10 cities across Texas and wrote a book about it! You can also listen to my interview here: Texas Standard: The Case for making Tacos the Official Dish of Texas

So step aside chili, tacos are here to stay. I invite you, along with the Texas Taco Council (yeah, that's a thing!) to sign this petition and let's make tacos the national food of Texas y'all!
