A Blogging Ethical Conundrum.

Over at Blue Gal, Fran's seeking guidance on whether it's off limits to point out that Newt Gingrich's latest wife is the staffer who was "...giving Newt blow jobs when he was married to someone else, at exactly the time he was leading the charge to impeach Clinton for exactly the same thing."

Definitely. I, for instance, would never think of using this typically family-friendly space to point out that Mrs. Gingrich was the same staffer who was giving Newt blow jobs while he was married to someone else, at exactly the same time he was leading the charge to impeach Clinton for exactly the same thing, even knowing that she, in fact, was.

Perish the thought. I mean, think of The Children©.

Of course, standards, like mileage, vary.

Hope this helps.

Yep.

The New York Times
These memos make it clear that Mr. Bybee is unfit for a job that requires legal judgment and a respect for the Constitution. Congress should impeach him.
This too…
After eight years without transparency or accountability, Mr. Obama promised the American people both. His decision to release these memos was another sign of his commitment to transparency. We are waiting to see an equal commitment to accountability.
Please, Mr. President, you've brought torture to an end. Bring torturers to justice. Let America be America again.

Quote of the day.

"We have this thing called impeachment and it's bleeping golden and we've used it the right way."

In the news…

AP - Gov. Rod Blagojevich's lawyer said Monday that a vague array of charges and evidence doesn't merit removing the governor from office, and he urged a House committee not to recommend impeachment.

Veep v. Veep.

Outgoing on incoming...
"...if he wants to diminish the office of the vice president, that's obviously his call."
Well, no, Dick. The call goes to the Constitution.

But you've never been much for that "government of laws" stuff, have you?

Just a month 'til we're rid of America's best argument against impeachement.

From the "Un-American Activities" file.

Some plain truth from Kagro X...
Basically, the situation is such that Bush feels perfectly comfortable vetoing everything of substance the Congress even proposes passing. Forget the "60 vote requirement" in the Senate. With Bush, if he wants his way, it takes 67 votes to do anything different. And 290 in the House.

In related news…

Via Kos...
For the first time in the history of the Gallup Poll, 50% say they "strongly disapprove" of the president. Richard Nixon had reached the previous high, 48%, just before an impeachment inquiry was launched in 1974.

Hooray for Jay!

My former own personal Congressman steps up...
A group of House Democrats will introduce a resolution calling on the Judiciary Committee to begin impeachment proceedings against Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.

Rep. Jay Inslee (D-WA) will sponsor the measure. It will be dropped in the hopper tomorrow.
I'm happy as a clam with my current own personal Congressman, having been a Jim McDermott fan before the days of the Apple Agenda (a bit of upper left political trivia for y'all), but if redistricting ever put me back in Jay's territory again I'd feel equally well represented.

We do have some of the best up here.

...on Gonzo.
This man is an insult to the constitution. Impeach him. Get him out of there. Whatever it takes.
Yep.

Go. Read.

I don't think it'll happen.

Actually, I don't think it can, given the certainty of Republican obstructionism, but it sure sounds good. Via Natch

What we know…

My own personal Congressman

For all that we don't know, this much we do know: the Vice President holds himself above the law. And, it is time for the Congress to enforce the law.

...and what to do…
The Vice President likes to say the military option is on the table. Tonight it is time to say the impeachment option is on the table. I'm adding my name to H.R. 333, calling for the impeachment of Vice President Dick Cheney.

For the good of the nation, the Vice President could leave office immediately. Call it a medical condition; call it a political condition; call it what it is- the departure of a person who forgot that he works for the American people.

Mr. Vice President, resign or face impeachment.
I hope all y'all that have been hollering for impeachment will show the love.
