Festival program published: Father Frost against Putin 2019 to take place in January

Next year, 2019, the Father Frost against Putin-festival will once again take place in Helsinki.  From the 5th to the 6th of January you can join discussions about the state of affairs in Russia and the x-USSR region, and get a chance to meet various social and political activists without the fear of police or special service operations. (fear of infringement from the side of police and special services). 

Helsinki: Action of solidarity with the actions of the parents of the arrested russian antifascists was held on

October 28, 2018 in Helsinki in front of the Russian Embassy. 10 people took part in the action, mostly anti-fascists and anarchists from Russia and some activists from Finland.

Solidarity week for anarchist prisoners in Helsinki

On August 25, 2018, in the frame of the 6th international week of solidarity with anarchist prisoners, anarchists held several support events in Helsinki.

At the multicultural festival “Puhos loves people”, a group of anti-fascists from the collective “Comrade's Network” organized the table with vegan pancakes, T-shirts and bags for the collection of funds needed to pay lawyers for the anti-fascist “Network” case, the organization of parcels for other political prisoners anarchists. As a result of sales, we collected several hundred euros.

On March 18, 2018, as part of an international solidarity campaign with Russian antifascists and anarchists, there was a protest in Helsinki near the embassy of the Russian Federation.

During the last months, Russian secret services . They were accused of conspiring to organize a “terrorist organization”. The arrested were tortured with electric cables and shockers for many hours, brutally beaten without consideration if serious wounds are caused and whether visible traces of beating are left. The officers humiliated our arrested comrades.

Various initiatives and activists from post-soviet countries and the rest of Europe will be part of this event sharing stories and reports on the situation in their regions. There are plenty of reasons for exchanging perspectives: an increase in repression and a new round of political confrontations are accelerating certain historical processes, not giving us a chance to catch our breath.

The 1999 WTO- summit in Seattle ended in dismay due to a falling out between the participants. At the same time tens of thousands of demonstrators took over the city. During the following years social movements tried to replicate the events in Seattle, but failed due to heavy police repression.

Welcome to Father Frost against Putin IV Festival in Helsinki

From 7th to 8th of January 2017 fourth Father Frost against Putin-festival will be organised in Helsinki. Exact festival location will be announced later. 

 

 

As in earlier years, various Russian grassroot initiatives will present themselves in festival. You should visit festival, if you are interested on what has happened in Russian anarchist, feminist and queer movements

during year 2016.

 

All festival events will be open to everyone.

Finnish nazi group killed bypasser during their street event

According to still not fully confirmed information the Nazist Finnish Resistance Movement (Suomen Vastarintaliike, SVL) killed a bypasser during their street event on the 10th of September, near Helsinki Railway Station. The next day SVL published on their website a picture and a video featuring the person they assaulted, along with a text glorifying their violence. According to the victim’s family, the young man that SVL assaulted died in hospital last night, September 16th at 10 PM, from the serious injuries he received.

Dress like Alexander Berkman

Only most outrageous agent on bourgeoisie would claim Oscar Wilde, Alexander Berkman or rest of the anarchists lacked style 100 years ago.

But since then, anarchist swag has been lost and movement is in a crisis.

Change will come Wednesday 10th of August in anarchist Black Kallio festival in Helsinki, from 4 PM at infoshop Mustan Kanin Kolo (Hämeentie 26). 

Helsinki joined international days of action for Russian political prisoners

After Tel Aviv, Helsinki joined the solidarity campaign. A picket in the center of the city was organised. 1st of July, in the opposite side of the railway station, around 10 anarchists stood with a banner "Freedom to Crimean prisoners" (Vapaus Krimin vangeille) with pictures of Oleg Sentsov and Alexandr Kolchenko, and "Freedom for all political prisoners" (in English). Few hundred leaflets were spread. Goal of the action was to spread information about constant repressions in Russia against those in disagreement with Putins politics, and against ongoing bloodshed in Ukraine.
