He was generous and kind. He did thousands of hours of volunteer work at hospitals and served his community. And babies loved him. I was lucky to have had all this time. We all were. Thanks Grandpa Petersen. For literally everything

His house was always my home, and my kids were lucky to know their great grandfather like I knew him: a superhero who could toss us around. (That's his great grandson, my son. Grandpa is in his late 80s here... like I said, superhero.)

When I came home from Iraq, Grandpa opened up to me about what he went through at war. This was his ship, the USS Normahaul, a former Astor yacht turned sub chaser. Some of his buddies died in the belly of this ship. Even w/ dementia at 96, he remembered their names and faces.

Mary and Don had four kids, twelve grandkids (numbered here at their 50th anniversary) and a buttload of great-grandchildren. We all get along amazingly. No, really. They're the fucking coolest. (I'm the awkward no. 5...)

Don grew up in the Depression, lost his mom when he was 17, and grew up scraping by on the South Side of Chicago w/ his dad & 2 bros. He served in the Coast Guard in WW2 as a mechanic. He married the baddest woman ever, a wild Irish rose named Mary Mae. They started a family...

I'm all for saving a few bucks, but if a couple bucks is enough to take your support from the FLGS, don't pretend you put "RPG community" first when you're really just interested in your wallet.

Don't preach about "support your Favorite Local Game Shop" if you're buying indy games from Amazon to save a couple bucks. The FLGS needs those few bucks to stay alive and make a space for local gamers. Bezos ain't hosting MtG or DnD nights.

Frosty the Snowman is the ballad of a vengeful trickster demon who led the children of the town in a revolt until the sun god smited him for leading the youth astray. Change my mind.

Some of the grimmest shit I've ever seen is a college student trying to win a portion of their tuition in front of a cheering crowd inside of a stadium that could have paid for like 100,000 people to go to school.

Seeing people post which Popular Streamed RPG character they are has me nostalgic about all the folks I unfollowed on FB for the same kind of quiz/survey bullshit.

The reason the cost of tickets, concessions, and merchandise is rising is because franchises want nothing to do with poor fans and have re-designed live games to be a luxury day out for the upper classes. I think it's short sighted, but they don't listen to me

The monster of the Nativity story is not King Herod, the bloodthirsty tyrant. He is just the backdrop. The villain is the innkeeper, a common everyday person, who sees their dire situation and chooses not to help. No room. Sorry. America is full of innkeepers these days.
