Like, I know he just got a massive tax cut and all, but he could just get really into model trains or something less damaging to society than a third-party run.

Trump just caved. Democrats have shown that they can stand up to him. Trump held the country hostage for over a month and he failed to get what he demanded. Here's what's in the deal: 1/

How this went down: 1) Trump threw a fit 2) Pelosi said no deal 3) Schumer + Senate Dems stood strong 4) Grassroots backed them up 5) Pressure built on GOP 6) Trump caved This is how you take down bullies, and it's a guide to the next inevitable Trump temper tantrum.

Instead of shrinking our ambitions for fear the Roberts Court will strike progressive policies down, expand the Court to make it less unfriendly to progressive policies.

Free headline for headline writers "Republicans vote down bill to reopen government." That is what transpired today. If you blame congress, or Democrats, or partisanship, or anything else, you're misleading your readers. The GOP voted down a clean bill to reopen govt. That's it.

Dems aren't trying to get changes in the budget. They're not asking for any concessions. They're literally just asking to reopen government. That's it. If you cover this as "well both sides just need to find compromise," you're failing your job as a journalist.

This is a ridiculous headline. Dems voted to reopen government with no strings attached. GOP voted it down. This isn't both sides. Why is the Times so bad at this?

Thanks Senator! This is what good inside-outside game looks like. We didn't reopen government today, but we helped keep Dems united, and the clean bill to reopen government got more votes than Trump's hostage demands. Now we build on it.

McSally is running for election next year. I say "election" and not "reelection" because she was appointed to her seat after losing election last year. Her first act in the Senate is to side with Trump against her constituents. Good luck next year!

Proposal to reopen government without strings attached gets more votes than Trump's hostage demands. EVERY Senate Dem present voted for it. Which means workers will miss another paycheck purely because of McConnell & Republican votes.

Note: Susan Collins, who is up for reelection next year in a state 2,500 miles from the border with Mexico, voted for Trump's dumb wall funding. It still failed.
