Smartest thing I’ve read so far on Buzzfeed story. Bottom line: IF 100% true, Trump’s in serious trouble; but smart move is to wait & see - Mueller saying these things is one thing; Buzzfeed based on anon sources who didn’t share their “proof” is another.

The Buzzfeed story about Trump ordering Cohen to lie to Congress about his business dealings in Russia, if true, makes this passage from Barr’s memo to DOJ, , highly relevant.

Such a partisan approach to impeachment violates both the letter and the spirit of the Constitution. It would encourage wrongful weaponization of impeachment as a partisan political tactic to be deployed by both parties.

If true - and proof must be examined - Congress must begin impeachment proceedings and Barr must refer, at a minimum, the relevant portions of material discovered by Mueller. This is a potential inflection point.

NEW: In a shift, Dems will not necessarily wait for Mueller's findings to launch impeachment proceedings, I'm told. Barr's refusal to commit to publicizing Mueller's findings combined w/Trump potentially suborning perjury has created new sense of urgency.

RE Buzzfeed article on Cohen: spoke at length w/Schiff and Nadler in December abt impeachment. Both acknowledged it was a possibility but that extensive extensive research had to be undertaken before it happened. 1 article won't change that:
