DoPS: "While we accept Johansen's assertion that he was not attempting to intentionally strike Scheifele in the head, this is not a case where a player is so off-balance or otherwise unable to control his stick that the play can be sufficiently penalized by the on-ice officials."

More DoPS: "On this play, Johansen swings his stick down in a reckless and irresponsible manner that causes his stick to hit Scheifele up high."

Johansen will miss tomorrow's game against Florida and Monday's at Colorado. He is eligible to return Wednesday at Vegas.

Johansen got off lightly here. I wish the league would spend less time trying to divine intent and more time on the action, but that's certainly not the standard.

Can’t believe Ryan Johansen only got 2 games for dropping the boomstick on Mark Scheifele. That’s just dangerous garbage that should warrant multiples of 10.

2 games for an intentional 2-handed chop to the neck/head of an opponent? 10 minimum. Your failure to protect NHL players is astounding. Beef up the rules and standards. Start handing out REAL suspensions for despicable acts like this.

Deserved. He has no disciplinary history... I kind of figured it would be 2-3. No excuse for that kind of behaviour.

Ryan Johansen gets two games, and I don't have a France/yellow vest/guillotine joke for it. I'm sorry.

RyAn Johansen suspended for two game is less than ideal, but probably right.
