Ukrainian victim of gender-based violence and three Syria refugees are among migrant detainees at #PetrouRalli street

On Sunday December 16th 2018, members of the feminist organization ‘Mauve’ visited with the immigrant (migrant, EIE)and refugee women detained at the Directorate of Immigration, located on Petrou Ralli street, in Athens. The conditions of detention we encountered were inhumane, considering the cold winter weather and the lack of heating in the space where the women were detained. In contrast, we witnessed that the offices of the employees, which are in the same building, were fully heated. The insufferable problem of the cockroach infestation is still present as we are waiting the health inspectors to assess the complain we filed last time we visited the facility.

Before giving the details of my forthcoming talks I need to mention a few things. First off, I should mention that I have posted write-ups of my previous two talks in Nottingham – Peter Kropotkin: Science and Syndicalism and The 1848 Revolutions: An Anarchist Perspective – along with an article Propertarianism and Fascism. As noted in the introduction to both the talks, neither are exactly what I said on the day but rather what I had hoped to cover. I’ll leave it to those there to say whether I active that goal or not!

#YellowVests: From the #GiletJaunes of #Commercy: A call to generalise the assemblies

Among the polyphony of the gilets jaunes, we (Autonomies) shared a first communique from the Commercy. Today, we share a second statement, in translation, from the Commercy assembly that retains all of its political importance, pointing as it does potentially to a path beyond perpetuating the status quo with minor reforms. It is an invitation to discuss and debate, between all of the local assemblies of the movement, what kind of world they (we) wish to live in.
