    House just passed a bill that fully funds government and enables to secure our border/build the wall. Senate can do same by eliminating the filibuster. 51 votes, same as we do for judges!

    Jazzhands.....quick way to get around the 60. Have the bill contain a tax on all overseas wire transfers. Turn it into a tax bill, with he appropriation tacked on and since it's now a tax bill, it only needs 50 votes and we get to tax remittances.

    O’Shaughnessy didn't have to say that. It's actually uncharacteristic for top brass to interject their own views like that, but he was signaling to that he was on board, and that he would follow orders. Trump should appoint O’Shaughnessy as Mattis' replacement.

    By having the military engaged in countless theaters overseas in missions deemed "absolutely critical to Our National Security™", excuses like the ones Mattis gave regarding the protection of our southern border can be made to ensure border missions are of least importance.

    He did so because he is a corporate general, only interested in serving the needs of defense contractors, lobbyists, donors, and hostile foreign interests (but I repeat myself), while failing to meet his first objective: defending our nation here at home.

    There is a clear nexus between a lack of militarized border security and demand for endless wars in the Middle East. Mattis was the epitome of this dynamic. He fought for massive DoD budgets in the same breath as he stonewalled on border troops.
