Police investigating video that allegedly shows fan hurling racial abuse at Raheem Sterling

Premier League 5 hours ago
Chelsea and the Metropolitan Police confirmed they are looking at viral footage which allegedly shows a fan hurling racial abuse at Man City winger Raheem Sterling during a match on Saturday.

Obviously I'm no lip-reader, but it looks like a few Chelsea fans screamed some pretty disgusting racist abuse into the face of Sterling during tonight's match. This, as with the Tottenham fan at the Emirates last week, is seriously worrying.

No wonder people say we don't take abuse seriously...

Hi . Just been speaking to the production team. The footage is all over social media & we’ll make sure the relevant people are sent the footage directly from us. If indeed it is proved to be racist abuse then I hope it’s a lifetime ban. No place for it in this world.

Some footage being circulated on social media, purporting to show 'what looks like' racial abuse directed at Raheem Sterling by a fan. Chelsea are looking into this, and will investigate thoroughly. The line is very much 'innocent until proven guilty'. But also: if guilty, a ban.
