"Once everything was awesome. Now everything is bleak."

Yep, times have changed since we last saw Emmet and his friends in The LEGO Movie back in 2014. Five years later they're back ... in out of space.

In the new trailer released by Warners Bros for The LEGO Movie 2, the long-awaited follow up to the smash hit film, we see our favourite citizens of Bricksburg facing a new threat to their city - LEGO Duplo invaders from another galaxy.

"The battle to defeat them and restore harmony to the LEGO universe will take Emmet, Lucy, Batman and their friends to faraway, unexplored worlds, including a strange galaxy where everything is a musical.

It will test their courage, creativity and Master Building skills, and reveal just how special they really are," we're told of the latest instalment in the franchise.

And they come in pieces.

Chis Pratt is back as the voice of Emmet, but he's also voicing Rex Dangervest, the space travelling archeologist, cowboy and raptor trainer - a mash-up of his roles in Guardians of the Galaxy, The Magnificent Seven and Jurassic World

Pratt is joined by original cast members Elizabeth Banks as Wyldstyle, Alison Brie as Princess Unikitty, Will Arnett as Batman and new addition, Aussie Margot Robbie who appears as the voice of Harley Quinn.

Other new characters include Tiffany Haddish as the voice of Queen Watevra Wa-Nabi and Arturo Castro as Ice Cream Cone.

Directed by Mike Mitchell, The Lego Movie 2 hits cinemas in Australia on March 28, 2019.
