Celebrity chef Shannon Bennett has sold his holiday home on the Great Ocean Road after listing the residence for sale with hopes of $4.2 million.
The sale comes after the Vue de monde chef and MasterChef personality recently separated from his wife and former Neighbours star Madeleine West.
The five-bedroom luxury retreat in Big Hill, outside Lorne on Victoria’s surf coast, was originally listed with a price guide of $4.65m to $5.1m, although expectations were later revised to $4.2m.
Although the final price and buyer have not been revealed, records show the home changed hands last month.
Selling agent Tyrone Provan of Great Ocean Road Real Estate declined to comment when contacted by Domain.
The property was sold by private company Shannon Bennett Promotions Pty Ltd, of which Mr Bennett is a director and sole shareholder.
Holidaymakers had been able to lease the hillside home as a short-term rental, enjoying the ocean views and surrounding rainforest.
With a chef’s kitchen and Miele appliances – naturally – the 1000-square-metre, three-level residence also features a 25-metre indoor pool, gym, sauna, sound system, yoga deck, climate-controlled wine cellar and cinema room.
Landscaped gardens by Phillip Johnson include a billabong with cascading falls, suitable for swimming.
An in-ground trampoline, boules court and terrace with fire pit complete the home.
In Melbourne, Bennett and West last year bought a five-bedroom Toorak mansion, paying $16 million after the residence was put up for sale by pub owner Mazen Tabet.
Mr Bennett recently made headlines when some former employees of fine dining restaurant Vue de monde said they worked up to 30 hours of unpaid overtime a week, a claim the Vue Group denied.
Tasting menus at Vue de monde start from $230 per person, rising to $310 for the Chefs Tasting Menu, and from February the menu will begin at $275.
