Another weak UPS Freight contract has been ratified after Hoffa threw away our union’s bargaining leverage and left members defenseless against company threats.

The largest UPS local in the south has voted for a new team of reform leaders, who swept the election in Dallas – Ft. Worth Local 767. The 767 Teamsters United for Change slate won a four-way race with 57 percent of the vote. 

After members Voted No, UPS issued a statement that the contract was rejected and the company would return to the bargaining table. But in a new letter, Hoffa's legal counsel claims the contract had to be ratified and that the union plans “future discussions with the company” to negotiate “additional provisions” in the national UPS agreement.

Michael Savwoir has fought for democracy, racial justice and a stronger Teamsters Union for well over 30 years, and he’s still going strong. Teamsters—especially TDU members—salute his unwavering commitment, as he steps down from the TDU Steering Committee, on which he has served for nearly 20 years.

The Western Pennsylvania Teamsters and Employers Pension Fund, headquartered in Pittsburgh, applied for permission to reduce benefits to remain solvent, which could cut the pensions of thousands of Teamsters.
