Union movement seeks new boss

Ged Kearney's resignation as ACTU president throws open the key union position to a vote in July.

Australia's union movement will elect a new leader in July.

The ACTU presidency will be up for grabs at the peak union body's congress in Brisbane in July following the decision by Ged Kearney to quit the post and run as the Labor candidate in the Batman by-election.

Around 800 delegates representing workers from every industry and sector in Australia will attend the congress on July 17 and 18.
