Please and cut them up, not cut them out! With after $1m announced to put more food safety officials on the ground. We don't want to let 'anyone' sabotage the livelihood of our farmers

    Replying to and

It’s important to clarify that the private member’s bill and I introduced in May is still being debated in the Parliament. Labor has no integrity. There has been no change in our deep personal conviction to phase out this trade

In spite of the grandstanding and misrepresentation from our political opponents this week, may I reassure all that my private members bill to end live sheep exports remains before Parliament and I remain as determined as ever to end this cruel trade.

Great to be in Albury with where he outlined the principles & values which will guide his government. As the PM said: “If you have a go in this country, you’ll get a go. That’s what fairness in this country means.”

The Lower Darling. Under the Murray Darling Basin Plan, arguably the most neglected stretch of river in the Basin. Mismanagement of Menindee Lakes - not drought - means access to stock and domestic water is critically low.

“The country looks awful ! But you couldn't realise the drought unless you saw it - and then you couldn't realise it unless you lived through it; and even then - well a man does not know what he can go through and leave behind him as an evil dream.” (Henry Lawson 1900)

The Lower Lachlan. Steep, un-grassed banks, muddy water, few native fish. Damaged not by drought - but by carp. Environmental flows alone do not make a healthy river.

Actually on the phone! Telstra must have missed this one in their payphone purge. And it’s right next to a mobile phone tower! In tiny Oxley, on the Lachlan River

On the road out the back of Balranald and Booligal. Bumped into John who talked about how he got his stock through the Millenium Drought. This one had better not get that bad 🙏

Ending long haul live sheep exports is a matter of strong personal conviction for me. That has not changed. Can I assure all who care deeply about this issue, I am working hard, with my colleagues and remain fully committed to seeing the end of this awful trade.

Wow! And to think those “irrigators” once called you their friend David! Also - this is not a theft but a borrow - paid for and paid back. We don’t need hand outs here. And we will continue to fight the bias against farmers who grow water for food.
