We’re launching Pigeonholed, our very special thirty-ninth edition, and we’re celebrating at Grub Street Bookshop.

The Bash

We’re launching at Grub Street Bookshop on Friday, November 16. Stick your beak in from 6pm to pocket a copy of the book, grab a glass of wine and catch performances by Claire G. Coleman, Mira Schlosberg and Scott Wings. Entry is free, but please RSVP via Eventbrite so there’s enough drinks to go around.  Check the Facebook event page for more details and updates.

Craving that new book smell but can’t make it to the launch? Pre-order your copy here.

The Book

Pigeonholed spotlights the best of genre writing, from hardboiled sci-fi to feminist zombie fic to nihilistic choose-your-own-adventure. You’ll find stories that honour convention and stories that punch convention in the face. We all know what it’s like to feel boxed ingenre writers more than anyone. So we’re thinking outside the box. In fact, we’re blowing the box to smithereens.

This edition features words from the likes of Claire G. Coleman, Shaun Tan, Scott Wings, BN Oakman and more, plus beautiful illustrations by Bren Luke. Strap in: Pigeonholed will send you crash-landing on the blood-red dunes of an alien planet, roaming the neon-drenched streets of a red-light district, and slipping through the cracks of a grungy London warehouse.

With a pulp-inspired design by Matt Tambellini of More Studio, this year’s book is pocket-sized, pulpy and begging to be dog-eared. Oh, and did we mention it’s cheap as chips? (Well, maybe fancy chips.)

We’re launching at Grub Street Bookshop,  1/379 Brunswick St, Fitzroy VIC 3065 on Friday 16 November 6-9pm. RSVP via Eventbrite to secure your spot.
